Twenty Questions: LORI SANDOVAL
1. What do you like most about what you do?
Opening up myself to the unknown, and allowing
music to come in is a fun
thing to do, I love meeting other people from all walks of life. Great
conversations are one of my favorite things.
2. What do you wish you could change about yourself?
I wish i could be more focused.
3. Do you think others perceive you the way you perceive yourself?
Surely not.
4. If you could only have access to a total of 5 items, whether they
be
books, albums, movies, sculptures or paintings-- which 5 would you choose,
and why?
1 large box of tools, so i could make other things
that i need. A
picture of the people I love, a garden so I could feed people, a bush
plane and unlimited fuel. lipstick.
5. What, as opposed to who, has influenced you most?
The seasons influence me, I feel very drawn to
the Autumn. Upstate NY,
and Driving down any road and thinking.
6. Do you do your best work when you're happy or not so happy? In other
words, do you think there's any validity to the old saw about an artist
having to suffer in order to successfully create?
No not true for me. Every person has a different
experience. Songs come
in every mood.
7. When you are not working, what do you do for fun?
Everything i can think of. Look at planes, hike,
cook, read, paint,
drive, kiss, smell things, listen to music and take pictures.
8. When you are working, describe a typical work day (or night)?
I wake up and go for a run/walk, think about what
has to happen, booking
people into the studio, writing music, calling people back, paying bills,
then the best part is sitting down with someone or myself, starting to
noodle around on guitar or piano, and letting melodies flow out of me.
Allowing lyrics to come is great fun too.
9. If you weren't a singer-songwriter and partner in a studio what would
you most certainly NOT have become?
an exterminator
10. Where do you see yourself two years from now?
Listening to our music in film - spending time
traveling - and then
Opening some sort of foodie place or bed and breakfast for musicians.
Or maybe getting a degree in something i haven't even thought of yet.
Something fun and fulfilling.
11. If you were cloned, what would you want to write on the blank slate
of
your new self? Or put another way, if you had been your own parent, what
would you have taught or exposed yourself to during the course of your
upbringing that you were not?
Languages and study of music
12. If you had the power to put together the greatest band of all time,
who would the members of that band be?
Sting, and people from around the world I haven't
met yet. Or David Loy,
Michael Lummio, Scott Schweiger, Keith Lowe, and Me and maybe Stewart
Copeland, and John Mayer and Keith Jarrett, Ross Rice and Devin Rice.
13. Limited to these two choices, would you rather be the fastest runner
in the world, or be able to run the longest distance?
Fastest Runner, in case of an emergency. ;-)
14. What's the best song you've heard so far, and why?
Honestly I love so many. There are heaps of great
songs in our world.
15. What's the worst pain in the world?
Not being my whole self and seeing my children
hurt or unhappy.
16. What's the best smell in the world?
The person I love, and plumeria and tuberose lei's
17. What's the saddest song of all time?
"Losing you again today" by Scott Schweiger
18. What's the greatest thing that ever happened to you?
Being Born and My 2 Sons being born
19. What's your LEAST favorite swear word?
all good. If you are pissed enough. Except Cunt.
I do not like the
word Cunt. It is nasty. And why is "Fuck" a bad word? "Bugger
off" is
good.
